Every year between May and August, Baikamo flowers bloom on the surface of the Takimi river in Shin-onsen. These flowers only bloom in pristine waters with a temperature below 15 degrees Celsius. About 30 to 40 years ago, the Baikamo suddenly started growing in large groups. Children who saw them nicknamed them "goldfish grass". Just below the river’s clear flowing surface, the many white flowers shine like stars, creating a beautiful view that is a popular tourist spot.
