Tour the San'in Kaigan Geopark

The San'in Kaigan Geopark is a massive park that stretches over 100km east-west and 30km north-south and is a park based on the idea of "various geological/geogrpahical features living in harmony alongside the Sea of Japan." Starting from Kyougamisaki (Kyotango city) in the east and via the Tajima coastline (Hiyoriyama, Takeno, and Kasumi coastlines) the park runs to Tottori city and the Hakuto & Hamamura coastlines in the west. The inland areas of Kannabe Highlands, Ojiro, Yumura Onsen, and Amedaki are also included.

Discover the beauty of the Hamasaka region of the San'in Kaigan Geopark from an observation boat. With various mini caves, caverns, and rock archways, there are many beautiful sunlit views, similar to Italy’s blue waters and rock formations, awaiting you. There is one rock arch in particular that aligns with the rising sun to create a picturesque moment. This event only occurs two times during the year.

A real hot spring that will call out to you.
The mysterious power of Yumura Onsen is that if you visit once you will want to visit again and again.

The quality and quantity of the boiling hot spring water, that has continued to gush out of the earth from long ago, shows no signs of waning at all. The near boiling 98˚C water of Arayu (荒湯), the hot spring loved by locals, to this day continues to flow. Due to naturally occurring baking soda in the water, hot spring water is often also used in cooking. When you boil bamboo shoots and other mountain vegetables in the water, the color of the vegetables becomes bright and vivid. Tofu also melts and gains a mild flavor. The hot spring that can heal both the mind and body of visitors, as well as bring out rich flavors definitely has the mysterious ability to attract visitors.
